First formed in 1977 to promote Ian Dury's album New Boots and Panties, The Blockheads (featuring Ian's co writers Chaz Jankel & Mick Gallagher) successfully toured the world until 1982 when they disbanded after having enjoyed worldwide smash hits in the shapes of Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick, Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll, What A Waste, Reasons To Be Cheerful (Part 3), I Want To Be Straight and Clevor Trever.

Successful solo careers followed until 1987 when the band reformed. Since Ian’s untimely death in 2000 the band have continued to tour extensively with Ian's best friend Derek The Draw sharing vocal duties. The bands unique brand of Brit Funk will continue afresh when their third album "Staring Down The Barrel" is released in Summer 2008. The Album has 10 original songs by Derek and Chaz. It features Derek's lyrical take on the current state of the world that only the Blockheads unique musicality could capture.
