Exoterik was formed out of a collection of musicians that were playing in varied bands. The idea behind this band is to create a unique rocky sound with keyboards and samples blending into a crunchy back line. Having a female vocalist (Anneka) completes the music on both a visual and auditory level. Exoterik write and perform all their own material.
They’ve received much praise from both the press and the audiences for whom they’ve played and in 2005 supported The Buzzcocks and The Hamsters at the Gig In The Park Festival in Halesworth, Suffolk. Other bands they have played along side of are: Epica, Season’s End, Die So Fluid and Flylow and in July 2006 they played on the RockSound stage at Guilfest 2006 in Surrey with the likes of Therapy? and Breed77. Following the 2006 success at Guilfest, they were invited back to perform at this event the following year. In 2008 they completed a 10 date UK tour with American shock-rockers, Wednesday13 which is fronted by the former lead singer of top US band The Murder Dolls. They also supported Stuck Mojo and top Italian band Lacuna Coil in 2008.
Exoterik released their first single "Are You Alive?" on 28 April 2008 which is available to download from iTunes, Napster, eMusic and Rhapsody.
Their long awaited debut album, "Don't Swallow", is now available for download from the sites listed above and is also available to buy on CD from Play.com and HMV.com. This album is available to buy from their website and also available to download from iTunes, Napster, eMusic and Rhapsody. Butterfly In Your Hand Review... "The band have a winner here, the standard is high and I would imagine a great band to see live! And they are British. A great record and well worth checking out! 8.5/10". ~"Ravenheart Music" online music magazine. November 2009 ~
"...the Leeds based outfit have released a pretty impressive first album"..."This is a mature, strong release full of track imbued with melodic heaviness and an emotional charged energy"... "Anneka's confident vocals are taking the lead on all the tracks and promise a strong stage presence. Very promising". ~"Alternative" Magazine pre-release review of the new album Don't Swallow. Sept. 2008 ~
“Exoterik are a turbulent hybrid of haunting vocals and hard, moshy melodies which combine to create a fantastic listening experience” ~ Catherine Jebson, Keighley News. June 2004 ~
“Exoterik is a refreshing band. Their musical energy is raw and exhilarating. Musically the band is uncommon, following their own sound and delivery. Every riff, bass line and beat is unique with vocals that are efficacious, convincing and intense overall.” ~ Tyra Danielle, IMG Music Promotions Inc. April 2005 ~
“Absolutely awesome. You lot rocked the place out, and the synth reminded me of a church in space…with lazers!” ~ Von Schlieffen – Cypher Music Gig Review. July 2005 ~
"As soon as you put a female vocalist in a band everyone, critic or otherwise, is going to focus on it. For this reason I am going to barely mention this point. Quite similar to the singer from Evanescence is my answer. I like the way Exoterik mix the guitar parts so well, funky wah sounds slip seamlessly into heavy distortion and then back again with the bass guitar working similarly. You have what most would describe as a gothic band, with influences outside
horror movies. I like it, I wonder if the singer is as sexy as she sounds?" ~ Rock Idols Review, 2005 ~
“…live they are a force to be reckoned with…” ~ Paul Reay, Review of Omega Point EP CD. Glasswerk. February 2006 ~
“I think Exoterik certainly have a great deal of professionalism and maturity in their ranks judging by how the songs sound and Anneka’s voice certainly has plenty of character and isn’t just a clone of a million others”. ~ Paul, Review of Omega Point EP CD. Raw Nerve, April 2006. ~
